~ White Township Consolidated School Academic Skills Assistance Program ~

White Township's school-wide needs assessment is completed each year to determine students' eligibility to receive services through our Academic Skills Program for the 2021-2022 school year. Teacher recommendations, school-wide benchmark assessments, LinkIt! Asssessments, as well as the New Jersey Student Learning Assesment (NJSLA) results administered in the Fall, help determine those students who would benefit from support and instructional intervention.

Our hope is that the Academic Skills Assistance Program will meet the needs of each student by providing Reading Intervention for qualifiying students in Kindergarten through third grade, as well as the opportunity to receive supplemental instruction by their classroom teachers in Mathematics and/or English Language Arts during the Response to Invention instructional block. RTI supplemental instruction is provided in addition to classroom instruction in order to allow students to achieve thier personal best.

The Academic Skills Assistance Program also provides extended after and before school programs as determined by specific grade level needs in English Language Arts and Mathematics. More information will be shared on our WTS's website regarding extended school programs, sceduled to begin in October.

Funding for our Academic Skills Assistance Program is provided through the federal grant, Every Child Succeeds Act.
